Itinerary:
Welcome to Norway! Arrive in Oslo and make your way to your centrally located hotel.
Spend the remainder of the day exploring Norway’s stylish capital at your own pace. Wander along the waterfront at Aker Brygge, discover the striking architecture of the Oslo Opera House or visit the impressive Vigeland Sculpture Park. For those wanting to explore further, the museums of Bygdøy and the famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump are also well worth a visit.
Today, depart Oslo for one of Norway’s most spectacular rail journeys as you travel west through mountains, valleys and changing landscapes aboard the famous Bergen Railway.
At Myrdal, change to the renowned Flåm Railway for the dramatic descent towards the fjord. This remarkable journey passes steep mountainsides, cascading waterfalls and tiny mountain farms before arriving in the picturesque village of Flåm.
This evening, enjoy a special 5-course Viking-inspired plank dinner – a wonderful introduction to Norwegian flavours and traditions.
This morning, continue your journey through Norway’s spectacular fjord country with a scenic cruise through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord to Gudvangen. Surrounded by towering mountains, waterfalls and tiny villages clinging to the shoreline, this narrow fjord is considered one of Norway’s most beautiful.
Continue onwards to Bergen, known as the gateway to Norway’s fjords. Spend the afternoon exploring the colourful UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, wander through the historic harbour area or ride the Fløibanen funicular to Mount Fløyen for magnificent views across the city, surrounding mountains and fjords.
Enjoy some final time exploring Bergen before making your way to the Havila terminal this afternoon.
Board your Havila ship and settle into your cabin for the beginning of your northbound journey along Norway’s legendary coastal route. The seven-day voyage travels from Bergen to Kirkenes, visiting communities large and small along one of the world’s most spectacular coastlines.
As the ship departs Bergen this evening, head outside or relax in one of the panoramic lounges and watch the city disappear behind you as your Arctic coastal adventure begins.
Wake to your first full day sailing along Norway’s beautiful western coastline, calling at Florø, Måløy and Torvik before arriving in Ålesund, one of Norway’s most distinctive coastal cities.
Famous for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, Ålesund was rebuilt following a devastating fire in 1904 and today is filled with colourful turrets, ornate buildings and a picturesque harbour.
Depending on the season, the voyage may also sail into magnificent Geirangerfjord or Hjørundfjord, surrounded by dramatic mountains and cascading waterfalls.
Optional excursions may include sightseeing in Ålesund, Mount Aksla, kayaking or seasonal fjord experiences.
Continue north this evening towards Molde.
Arrive this morning in Trondheim, one of Norway’s oldest and most historically important cities.
Enjoy time ashore to discover the impressive Nidaros Cathedral, colourful wooden warehouses lining the Nidelva River and the charming streets of the old town.
Return to the ship around midday and continue through Trondheim Fjord and the coastal archipelago towards Rørvik as the landscapes gradually become wilder and more remote.
Today is a particularly special day as you cross the Arctic Circle and officially enter Arctic Norway.
Continue north towards Bodø, where optional excursions may take you to see the incredible Saltstraumen tidal current or explore the surrounding Arctic landscapes.
Later, sail across Vestfjord towards the breathtaking Lofoten Islands. Watch as dramatic mountains rise almost vertically from the sea and tiny fishing villages appear beneath the peaks.
Calls are made at Stamsund and Svolvær during the evening as you experience one of the most beautiful sections of the Norwegian coastline.
During winter, keep watch for the Northern Lights; during the summer months, enjoy the extraordinary light of the Midnight Sun.
Continue through the islands and narrow waterways of northern Norway, passing Stokmarknes, Sortland, Risøyhamn, Harstad and Finnsnes before arriving in Tromsø during the afternoon.
Known as the Capital of the Arctic, Tromsø has a fascinating history linked to fishing, hunting and polar exploration.
Step ashore to explore the compact city centre or choose from seasonal optional excursions, which may include city sightseeing, Arctic experiences or encounters with Sámi culture and reindeer.
There is normally several hours available in Tromsø before the ship continues north towards Skjervøy in the evening.
The scenery becomes increasingly remote today as you travel towards the far north of Norway.
Pass through Hammerfest and Havøysund before arriving in Honningsvåg, gateway to the spectacular North Cape.
The North Cape Plateau rises dramatically above the Barents Sea and is one of the great highlights of the northbound coastal voyage.
An optional excursion to the North Cape provides the opportunity to stand at the famous globe monument and take in the vast Arctic landscape stretching towards the horizon.
Continue along the rugged Finnmark coastline this afternoon and evening, calling at Kjøllefjord, Mehamn and Berlevåg.
Your final morning on board takes you through Norway’s remote northeastern coastline with early calls at Båtsfjord, Vardø and Vadsø before arriving in Kirkenes, close to the Norwegian–Finnish and Norwegian–Russian borders.
Disembark and make your way to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to discover this fascinating Arctic frontier town.

Traveller names must exactly match the passport used for travel, including all given names and surnames. Incorrect details may result in fees or difficulties with travel arrangements.
Travellers are responsible for ensuring passports meet the validity and entry requirements of all countries visited. For the Schengen Area, Australian passports generally must:

Nordic itineraries may involve walking on snow/ice, uneven surfaces, stairs, boats, snowmobiles, carrying luggage and extended periods outdoors in cold weather. Activities may have age, height, health, mobility or licensing requirements.
Medical conditions, mobility limitations and accessibility needs should be advised at booking so suitable arrangements can be considered.
Dietary requirements and allergies should be advised at booking. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate them, but cannot guarantee this, particularly in remote or wilderness locations. Travellers with serious allergies should also confirm requirements directly with meal providers.
Travellers on self-drive itineraries are responsible for holding the appropriate licence for the destination and rental provider. A valid physical licence may also be required for activities such as snowmobiling.
Accommodation will be booked in the room category shown on your confirmed itinerary. Scandinavian rooms may be smaller than Australian equivalents and configurations can differ.
Twin rooms commonly have two single beds, sometimes positioned together. Additional beds may be sofa or rollaway beds. Double rooms may also use two single beds together, with separate doonas.
If accommodation must change due to circumstances outside our control, we will seek a similar or higher standard wherever possible.
Porterage is generally not included. Travellers should be comfortable managing their own luggage.
Some trains, flights, coaches, ferries, transfers and vehicles have luggage limits. Any applicable restrictions will be advised in your travel documents. One manageable suitcase per person is recommended. Excess luggage charges are the traveller’s responsibility.
Scandinavian and Lapland travel can involve very cold temperatures, snow, ice and rapidly changing weather. Appropriate thermal layers, waterproof outerwear, gloves, hats and suitable footwear are essential. Summer weather can also change quickly, so rain protection is recommended.
Weather, road conditions or operational issues may require activities or transport to be delayed, modified, rescheduled or replaced. Safety takes priority, and suitable alternatives will be arranged where reasonably possible.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and cannot be guaranteed. Sightings depend on solar activity, weather, cloud cover and darkness. Tours are designed to maximise viewing opportunities but cannot guarantee a sighting.
Weather, transport schedules, supplier operations and other circumstances may require changes to accommodation, transport, activities or itinerary order. Where possible, comparable alternatives will be arranged and significant changes communicated.
Changes and cancellations are subject to supplier conditions and may incur fees. Some services are non-refundable from booking, with Christmas/New Year arrangements often having stricter conditions.

Unused services are generally non-refundable, including those missed due to late arrival, early departure or choosing not to participate. Where services are missed due to circumstances outside the traveller’s control, we will assist where reasonably possible, subject to supplier conditions.
